Background and nature of the task
Drug efficacy in humans is significantly affected by drug metabolism. Variation in one gene, CYP2D6 alters its ability to metabolise drugs and this task allows you to 'decode' samples from 3 populations in order to predict the level of active CYP2D6 protein present. The guide below gives some background to gene analysis and outlines how to use this application.
Duration and pattern of use
Data collection of two genetic markers on three populations with several replicates of each would take up to 1 hour.
