Sedimentary rocks and fossils

A reference set of hand specimens.

Background and nature of task
This package is an open-ended resource which can be used to gain information similar to using an encyclopedia. It can be used for a broad range of teaching activities and investigations of common types of sedimentary rocks and a wide range of fossils. Most of the images can be rotated so that the specimens can be viewed from different angles. There is also a magnification facility that provides images similar to that obtained through a hand lens. There is a facility to label the different parts of the fossils and rocks. The rocks include mudstones, limestones and sandstones and the fossils include body fossils of plants and animals as well as trace fossils. Almost all of the fossils are museum quality.

Duration and pattern of use
Approximately 1-2 hours.
